Here I used different colour willows woven around larch stakes to establish a temporary fence around the garden. Inside of this I planted currant bushes which in time will replace the fence as the boundary.
Larch was also used for shuttering to keep the woodchip on the paths away from the new veg beds. At each entrance to the garden a small area was cobbled and trees planted either side to create a threshold. In another corner of the garden I made a cobbled firepit, based on a design from a pendant.
All materials used were totally natural, and from local sources: Hillyfield community woodland, local tree surgeon, and nearby forest garden nursery. Biochar compost was sourced from the Carbon Compost Company in Exeter.
