Come and spend the weekend at our beautiful smallholding in South Devon learning all about fuel from hedges. The course includes:
- Introduction to the history, ecology and management of Devon’s hedges
- Charcoal making in a simple cob kiln
- Cutting, splitting, stacking and drying wood from the hedge
- Making bundles of brush wood called faggots
- Sourcing and using natural tinders to light a fire from scratch
- Using storm kettles and rocket stoves to heat water and cook food
You will need a packed lunch for the first day but all other food and refreshments are included and are gluten free. We will make our own pizza in a cob bread oven on Saturday evening and Sunday lunch will be a barbecue using the charcoal we made on Saturday.
FREE CAMPING is included! Please let us know if you intend to stay over and whether you have any other dietary requests.
