It’s not often we get the privalage of walling in a quarry but here we were with stone coming out of our ears. Such a pleasure to have so much choice. The slate lent itself perfectly to the convex and concave curves of the line we chose and large slabs were used to cope the top of the wall and hold it all in place. We used a lot of ugly stone to pack in behind the face to tie it to the existing bank, creating a very stable retaining wall.
